Four area WELS church had a vision in 2012 to provide a quality daycare service that was Christ centered. This was viewed by the churches as a way to share the gospel, grow the church, and provide a badly needed service to young families in the Renville County area. In order to assure that the daycare was to be of a quality daycare the churches called Stephanie Smith who was trained in early childhood and elementary education at Martin Luther College in New Ulm. Stephanie accepted the call in June of 2014 and the churches sprang into action. Little Lambs Learning Center (LLLC) was created. We rented 3 rooms from the school in Danube and started cleaning and painting our new classrooms and opened September of 2014. The 4 area churches contributed tens of thousands of dollars in support to get classes started at LLLC. News of LLLC spread and more and more parents brought their infants and children until all the classrooms were full. With so many infants and children on the waiting list LLLC slowly expanded and rented more classrooms. Future expansion is always being looked at to better serve the infants and children of Renville County.

Little Lambs Learning Center exists to share the love of Jesus through quality childcare and early childhood education.
Our plan at Little Lambs it to keep your child in Jesus’ hands. “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
The mission that each of our teachers seeks to fulfill each day is to educate the whole child in the best possible way. We are motivated by our love for Christ and our joy in spreading His word to His little lambs. The children hear Bible stories every week, we sing Bible songs, and help the children learn to behave in a way that pleases God. The children follow music, movement, and small group lesson plans that cover all learning aspects. The children are brought up and prepared for Kindergarten throughout a Christian environment.
Little Lambs opened its doors on September 10, 2014. We started being able to serve 4 infants, 7 toddlers, and 20 preschoolers. In January 2016 we expanded to serve 8 infants, 14 toddlers, 20 preschoolers, and we started a school age program that could serve up to 25 children. We are supported, funded, and staffed by four area WELS congregations: St. Matthew’s in Danube, MN, St. Matthew in Flora Township, St. John’s in Renville, MN, and Zion in Olivia, MN. We are located in the former Danube school building.
